Monika Petersen announces the opening of her new Nyhavn Store.
Originally, Nyhavn was a busy 17th Century commercial port where ships from all over the world would dock. The area was packed with sailors, ladies of pleasure, pubs and alehouses.
Today the beautiful old houses have been renovated and restaurants dominate the old port. Nyhavn is filled with people enjoying the relaxed atmosphere by the canal, jazz music and great food.
Even the famous Danish fairytale writer, Hans Christian Andersen, used to live there. This is where he wrote some of his best-known fairy tales ‘The Tinderbox’, ‘Little Claus and Big Claus’, and `The Princess and the Pea’.
So – when the opportunity came my way and I was able to move into the historical old, listed building on Lille Strandstræde 12, I jumped at the chance.
All the prints are printed on location, on a large handheld press located in the Print Studio, thereafter the prints are carried to the drying rack where thereafter they will be ready for signing & numbering.
2-3 days later and finally, the prints end up in the front room: the Store, where they are exhibited and ready for sale; rolled in sturdy cardboard tubes or framed in solid oak frames.
Welcome! Hope to see you at “The Red House” on Lille Strandstræde.
